The African Rural Energy Enterprise Development (AREED)

Overview
The African Rural Energy Enterprise Development (AREED) programme was founded on the idea that the delivery of clean energy services by small and medium-sized enterprises can transform the lives of impoverished people, helping them to break out of the vicious circle of poverty. On this basis, the programme seeks to expand energy access by helping people in rural Senegal, Mali, Ghana, Tanzania and Zambia start income-generating ventures using modern, clean, and reliable energy technologies.
