The PACE Centre aims to reduce the cost of making the carbon market work in Southern Africa and links carbon revenue with poverty alleviation. PACE offers support, advice and a new mechanism to facilitate local carbon-saving projects that have developmental benefits – “Credible Carbon™”. Credible Carbon™ is a voluntary market carbon registry that certifies and trades African carbon projects that make a direct impact on poverty. Credible Carbon evolved from a deep understanding of the limitations of the CDM for small, poverty alleviating projects, and has been designed to fill the project registration gap left by CDM in Africa.
