The Kenya National Cleaner Production Centre (KNCPC) is a Trust under the Ministry of Industrialisation and Enterprise Development. It was established in July 2000 as part of the global UNEP/UNIDO National Cleaner Production Centre program. The Centre promotes Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production tools in manufacturing and service enterprises to improve competitiveness and environmental excellence by embracing the “triple win kind” approach of integrating economics, environment and social accountability. The Centre is a nodal Government agency in providing advisory services in Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) which seeks to increase the productivity of enterprises by reducing wastage of resources (water, energy and raw material) and their associated negative environmental impacts.
Additionally, the Centre offers consultancy and training on environmental impact assessment, environmental audits, energy management training and audits, Clean Development Mechanism and climate change (CDM), amongst others. These programmes are implemented in service and manufacturing enterprises including hotels, hospitals, households, municipalities, water services and sewerage companies, supermarkets among others.
Our Vision: To be a Centre of excellence in Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production in Eastern Africa.
Our Mission: The mission of KNCPC is to build national capacity for Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production application in enterprises through awareness creation, training, project implementation, and policy advice for increased enterprise productivity and sound environmental management.
