Description: The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Government of Sweden, Duke Energy Corporation, the Government of Germany, and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) (collectively, the “Founding Partners”) are seeking to fund innovative technologies and business models at the intersection of clean energy and agriculture in developing countries.
The Founding Partners have combined resources to fund a second Global Innovation Call for the Powering Agriculture: An Energy Grand Challenge for Development (PAEGC) initiative.
PAEGC supports new and sustainable approaches to accelerate the development and deployment of Clean Energy Solutions that increase agriculture productivity and /or value in developing countries.
PAEGC’s second Global Innovation Call will issue individual awards ranging from $500,000 to $2,000,000 USD for Clean Energy Solutions that are (1) at the early stages of research and development to refine/improve the design of the technology, establish proof of concept, pilot field tests, and adapt technologies/business models to new markets or; (2) at the later stage of product/business model development to assist with expansion to commercial scale. Who is eligible? Applicants from a wide range of U.S. and non-U.S organizations and institutions are encouraged to respond including academic institutions, not-for-profit and for-profit organizations, foundations, civic groups, and cooperatives.

The Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) solicitation for PAEGC’s second Global Innovation Call is administered by USAID on behalf of the Founding Partners and can be downloaded from http://www.grants.gov and http://www.fbo.gov .
