Description: The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is one of the largest independent conservation organizations in the world, active in almost 100 countries. It has been working in the Congo Basin in Central Africa for more than 20 years. Our mission is to stop the environmental degradation in the world and build a future where humans live in harmony with nature.

Since 2010, WWF has embarked on ambitious conservation programs across the Congo Basin, implementing its 5-year conservation strategic plan called the Green Heart of Africa (GHoA). GHoA is focused on radical reductions in unsustainable and illegal wildlife offtake, development of partnership for new, effective and sustainable protected areas, advancing a green economy for the Congo Basin, building durable mechanisms to retain forest carbon.
In Gabon, WWF has been active for more than 20 years, with field conservation programmes in Gabon and Congo segments if the TRIDOM landscape as well as in the Gabon segment of the Gamba-Conkouati Landscape. WWF Gabon furthermore has crosscutting extractive industries & mining as well as forestry programmes, and since April 1, 2011, WWF Gabon has started the development of its coastal, marine and fisheries programme.
Biodiversity conservation and sustainable use of natural resources is one of the three pillars of the Gabon’s national development strategy. It has an ambitious agenda for the development of a green development economy, oriented around a low emission Development (LED) strategy for the country, the development of a national climate plan, and important investments in its national parks network. The international community has reacted very positively to Gabon’s ambitions resulting in support from a wide range of GAA and other donor support.

For our country operation in Gabon, we are looking for a dynamic and committed Conservation Director, with knowledge and experience the region, who will provide leadership and technical support for the development, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of WWF’s conservation strategy and programme in Gabon, in line with the GHOA GI and other Global Program Framework.
