Professional development in renewable energy and energy efficiency
Berlin, like most cities in Europe, experiences summer for just three months of the year if you’re lucky! During this time many people come to Berlin to get a flavour of its rich historic attractions, multiculturalism and different events that make this city so exciting. Berlin is also a hub for education and training. One of these stops is the unique Renewables Academy (RENAC).
RENAC, one of the leading international providers for education and training in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency, offers sit-in seminars and online courses for solar, wind, bioenergy, hydro, and energy efficiency as well as for specific topics such as rural electrification, grid integration or hybrid systems. One of these sit-in seminars is the Green Energy Summer School, geared to providing participants with in depth and up to date knowledge of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
RENAC’s summer school is an annual event that kicked off in summer 2013. The successful 2013 maiden session of two weeks drew 19 participants from nine different countries to Berlin where they learned about renewable energy in general and photovoltaic in particular. A testimony to the success of the 2013 summer school comes with statements such as this by one of the participants: “It was a great pleasure to learn about renewable energy with RENAC, especially in summer. The lecturers are very open to discussions and we had a lot of fun.” The upcoming 2014 edition, named Green Energy Summer School (GESS), will run from the 18th of August to the 05th of September 2014. The three weeks are broken into five-day blocks covering three themes: ‘overview of renewable energy’; ‘grid-connected and off-grid photovoltaics; and ‘overview of energy efficiency in industry and buildings’. RENAC is running the GESS in cooperation with the French National Solar Energy Institute (INES).
GESS seminars are open to representatives from the public-, private-, industry-, non-profit-, and academic sectors, financing institutions and industry associations worldwide. It intends to serve as a platform to learn in an international team of professionals while perfecting renewable energy and energy efficiency know-how. The combination of up to date theoretical lectures taught by highly qualified professionals with a wealth of experience in the industry, state-of-the-art practical exercises and field excursions, accompanied by lots of leisure activities is geared to make learning not only effective but also exciting.
This year’s seminars will be offered in two languages: in English and in French. The English-speaking participants can attend any or all three training courses in Berlin while the French-speaking participants have the unique opportunity to attend a ‘solar energy’ course in French, on the shores of Lake Bourget near Lyon, France.
Joining GESS will give you an opportunity to enjoy your vacation where you want while at the same time developing yourself professionally with knowledge of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
