Description: The University of Cape Town’s Underwater Club is hosting a speaker series on the State of Our Oceans called ‘The Bottom of the Line’, during April and May 2013. Speakers on Friday 19 April are Ryan Johnson and Charlene de Silva.

Ryan Johnson, Marine Biologist and CEO of Oceans Research, will be speaking on ‘Great White Sharks: what is there to fear? Looking at how threatening Great White Sharks really are and what they have to fear from us’.

Charlene de Silva, Marine Scientist in charge of shark research with the South African Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) and Director and Scientific Advisor of the South African Shark Conservancy, will be talking about ‘Shark Fisheries and Sustainability in South Africa‘.
