International VDI Conference – Biomass to Energy

Event date: 3 September 2013 - 4 September 2013

Venue: Novotel München Airport (München-Flughafen)
City: Munich
Country: Germany
Website: International VDI Conference – Biomass to Energy

Description: The bioenergy sector is growing and will continue to grow. Until 2020 the energy sector in Europe will undergo dramatic changes – a transition from fossil to renewable sources of energy. Biomass:

  • is by far the most important source of renewable energy in Europe
  • offers in all its various forms (wood, short-rotation, pellets, straw, sewage sludge, RDF…) a great potential as an alternative source of energy
  • also offers an environmental friendly and CO2 neutral alternative. In contrast to sun and wind energy, energy and power from biomass is reliably available

The international VDI conference will discuss major issues for the biomass industry in technical, political and business areas, drawing on leading experiences from all over Europe. The event aims to encourage an international exchange of experience on biomass and bioenergy research and development, feedstock potentials, manufacturing and installation, power generation and to be a showcase for the latest technologies in this rapidly growing market. Topics of the conference are:

  • European legislation, economic and political framework aspects
  • Relevant feedstocks, potentials and sustainability
  • Established and emerging markets
  • Future technologies: Torrefaction and hydrothermal carbonization
  • Energetic usage of biomass –  Exclusive insights into European operators’ best practices
  • Gasification of Biomass – Technology, processes and operational experience
