Description: Green Shift Africa partners with Student Energy Canada to host the 1st African Student Energy summit in Cape Town ,South Africa. Africa Student Energy Summit (AfSES) is powered by the Student Energy movement in partnership with the Green Shift Africa. This is the first time on African soil when a summit that directly targets young African leaders would be addressing energy issues. The summit aims to attract about 300 student delegates from different parts of the continent and beyond, professionals and leaders of industry in the energy sector, academia as well as policy makers and political leaders to converge and discuss solutions to one of Africa’s most challenging problems.

The African Student Energy Summit (AfSES) is a regional forum  that will focus on sustainable energy resource management and the role that students will play in the future of energy development. The event will take place in Cape Town, South Africa on the 19-20th of June 2014. This event will be linked to other summits hosted by Student Energy taking place on the same day across the globe in Europe, Latin America and North America.

The program focuses on three main pillars that address  today’s key energy issues:

  • Markets and Regulations analyzes the context of the current  energy system by evaluating the market forces and policies that  influence its development.
  • Global Energy Dynamics addresses how energy impacts  geo-politics and global developments as the world becomes  increasingly interdependent.
  • Technology and Innovation focuses on new processes and  technologies being developed and implemented in both  conventional and alternative disciplines.
