Type of training: Face-to-face
Dates: 20 – 22 August 2018
Organisation: Renewables Academy (RENAC) AG
Register/Website: Green Energy Summer School IIb: Framework Conditions for Renewable Energy Investment

Description: The rapid deployment of renewable energy requires a total rethink of fiscal and public
spending policies to create stable frameworks for investment. Otherwise, tax breaks and direct
government support for fossil fuels will continue to give conventional energies an unfair advantage
on energy markets. This course can help renewable energy experts and advocates, as well as policy
makers interested in implementing green fiscal reform, to understand how and in which ways green
fiscal policy can drive renewable energy investment and to deliver the arguments they need to
advocate it.
This training suits those who:

 Are representatives of renewable energy investors to national governments
 Are staff in finance, environment and energy ministries
 Are policymakers and representatives of civil society wishing to improve their knowledge in
green fiscal policy
After the seminar, you will be able to:
 Make the case for green taxes as a means of achieving national energy/climate goals
 Develop packages including green taxes to foster renewable energy investment
 Develop comprehensive plans for fossil fuel subsidy reform
 Propose social welfare policies to protect the vulnerable from energy price increases
