Purpose of the course
The learning programme helps learners develop the skills and knowledge needed to perform a supervisory and monitoring role effectively and with confidence. Learning sessions are interactive and outcomes based and take place in a relaxed and enabling environment. Emphasis is on “learning by doing” and the programme includes a field trip to a local waste management site where learners conduct their own inspection as part of their Portfolio of Evidence.

This module is based on the Unit Standard Number 119821, entitled “Implement lean work practices to ensure sound environmental management practices”, Level 3, and worth 10 credits on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).

At the completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Explain and describe concepts related to lean work practices.
  • Identify opportunities for introducing lean work practices.
  • Develop an action plan to implement new or modified practices.
  • Assess, evaluate and report the impact of new or modified practices.
